One way Dash makes your assets easier to find is by using fields to capture useful information about each asset.

But fields are only as useful as the data in them, and so to be able to use fields to find your assets, you'll need to ensure those assets have had their fields filled in!

A really good way to do this is to filter by assets that don't have a particular field option filled in, and then you can bulk update those assets with the right information.

Example

Let's say I have a folder called Products, and I also have a field called Rating that lets me capture how well an image has performed or just generally how good the image is:

I know that all assets in my Products folder need to have a star rating. My theoretical users are generally quite good at this but I have a suspicion that some assets haven't got a star rating.

Finding assets that don't have a field populated

You can find assets that don't have a field populated by clicking the "is empty" checkbox in the filters panel.

In our example, to find all assets in the Product folder that don't have a star rating:

  1. First click the product folder to filter by all assets in that folder

  2. Now expand the "Image Rating" field

  3. Check the "Is empty" checkbox

You'll now see all assets that don't have a rating, and you can individually update the rating, or bulk edit them to update multiple assets at once.

Pro tip! Add fields to be shown under the thumbnails, to instantly see and update useful information. Click here to read how.
