Installing the Dash Shopify integration

Learn how to install the Dash Shopify integration

If you've read about our Shopify integration and are ready to get started, this article shows you how to set it up.

The installation is two parts:

  1. Installing the Dash Shopify integration

  2. Linking your SKU field

Step 1 - installing the Dash Shopify integration

Requesting your installation link

  1. Go to Admin > Integrations and scroll down to the Shopify section

  2. Click "Get install link for a Shopify store..."

  3. In the window that appears, enter your full internal Shopify store domain URL, in the format storename.myshopify.com

  4. Click "Save & continue"

  5. This will send your request for an installation link to our support team. We'll be in touch usually within about 4 working hours with your installation link, which will be delivered via email.

Installing the plugin using your installation link

  1. When you receive the installation email, click the installation link and you should see a screen similar to this:

  2. Click the "Install" button

  3. You'll be redirected to login to Dash

    1. You may first need to accept the cookie prompt

    2. Enter your Dash username and password, or login using one of the social login buttons

  4. You should see an "All set up!" message

  5. Click "Back to Shopify" to continue using the plugin

The Dash Shopify app is now installed!

These instructions apply to production Shopify stores. If you are installing this app in a development store, we are aware of reports that this disables the ability to transfer the store to live. Please refer to Shopify's documentation and/or Shopify support for further information.

Step 2 - Setting up an SKU field in your Dash

Dash uses the SKU to match assets from your Dash to the right product in Shopify. In general, the value of a SKU in Dash should match the value of the corresponding SKU in Shopify. However, it's actually a bit more tolerant than that - as long as the SKU in Dash matches the start of the SKU in Shopify it will match.

Therefore, in order to use the integration, you need to have a dedicated custom field that stores the SKU created in your Dash.

First, create the field

  1. Go to Admin > Fields

  2. Click the "New field" button

  3. Choose the "SKU" suggested field from the list

To set up an SKU field for a Shopify export, there are two options in Dash,

Option 1 - link the SKU field to the integration

  1. Go to Admin > Integrations

  2. Scroll down to Shopify

  3. In the "Field used to match assets to products", make sure your SKU field is selected

Option 2: Link the SKU field during a Shopify Export

  1. Go to Browse > Select the assets to export > Click on the "Share" icon

  2. Click "Export to Shopify" > Review your Shopify export

  3. Tap on "Choose field" > Select "SKU" > Save

Things to know about storing your SKUs in Dash:

The field can be named anything as long as it's a Controlled Tag or Checklist field containing SKUs. For instance, if you name it "Inventory code" or "Product ID", it will still work.

Adding additional Shopify stores

You can connect Dash to multiple Shopify stores. When doing this, it will allow you to:

Adding an additional Shopify store

  1. Navigate to Admin > Integrations and scroll down to the Sopify section

  2. Click "Get install link for another Shopify store"

  3. Follow the same instructions as for setting up your first store

Using the integration

Now you have set the integration up, you can start using it! Refer to the following articles based on what suits you best:

I see the message "You need to upgrade your Dash plan"

This most likely means you are trying to install the plugin using a Dash account without Admin rights. Please try again using an Admin user.
