You may want to export all of your Dash assets, for example if:
You want to create an offline backup/archive on your own systems
You are thinking of leaving Dash and want to move your assets to a different system (π₯ )
(Note that as per our data security policies, we continually make regular, encrypted backups so you don't need to do your own backups if you don't want to)
What is exported
Your assets will be exported in the original format that they were updated in.
If a new version of an asset has been added, only the latest version is exported.
Any custom metadata (fields) that you have added to your assets in Dash is not exported.
Any metadata that was embedded in the original file when it was added to Dash will be preserved.
The export will preserve the full folder structure from your Dash account
Files will be exported using their original file name, unless multiple identically-named files exist in the same folder, in which case we will prepend the asset ID to each of the files to ensure each file has a unique filename.
Performing an export from Dash
All of our Dash exports are conducted using Amazon S3. This is a cloud-based storage location. We recommend you create your own Amazon S3 bucket and provide us with the credentials so we can export your Dash assets to it.
Once you have followed the above steps, provide us with the security credentials and we will perform the export for you.
Accessing your exported assets
Once we've completed the export, you can access your assets in various ways. This article explains how to access your bucket from your desktop.
