How to clear your browser cache

Learn a common troubleshooting technique if you are having problems using Dash

Updated this week

If you have been experiencing problems using Dash, but have found that things work fine when using a private/incognito window, then you need to clear your Dash's cache, and perhaps your cookies.

What are 'cache' and 'cookies'?

Cache and cookies are used to store data that will improve your browsing experience, but they do it in different ways:

  • Think of cache as a temporary storage for elements from the website’s interface. It helps your browser to load them faster when you next visit the page, instead of re-downloading them again.

  • Cookies are used to store your personal preferences and information from the website. This includes things like your login sessions, items in your shopping cart, etc. This data allows a website to remember you and tailor your experience to your specific needs, but does not include your saved passwords, for example.

Clearing your browser's cache and cookies is the very first step to help you fix most website issues quickly.

In most cases it's not required to clear your entire browser cache - just clearing the cache and cookies for a specific site is enough, in this case it would be Dash.
