Set an intended release date for an asset

What is a release date in Dash?


In Dash, a release date is a date before which an asset should not be used by users in their production workflows. For example, an asset may not be suitable for use in your marketing campaigns until after a certain date.

What happens when you set a release date?


When you set a release date in Dash, while today's date is before that date, Dash will display the following warnings, to help the user adhere to your intentions regarding the asset's usage:

Over the asset's thumbnail on the Browse and All assets screens:

At the top of the asset's metadata sidebar:

In the download menu:

On the share menu:

How to set a release date


To set a release date on an asset:

First, add the Release date field to your Dash

  1. Go to Admin > Fields

  2. Click "New field"

  3. Locate the "Release date" field and click "+ Add"

💡 Now's a good time to choose what position in the list of filters and fields you'd like this new Release date field to appear

Now your Release date field added, you can use it on an asset:

  1. Open any asset

  2. Locate the Release date field

  3. Enter your desired date
