What usage limits are there in Dash?

Learn about best practices for uploading a lot of content into Dash

Updated today

We try and impose as few limits as possible, to allow you to use Dash in whatever way best suits you!

This article outlines what specific usage limits do exist, and provides some general guidance when handling large numbers of assets.

General guidance

File types and sizes

We don't impost any restrictions on the types or sizes of files you can upload to Dash. The only thing that makes a difference is whether we show a preview of the file. You can read more about this in our article What file formats does Dash support?.

Uploading

We don't have any set limits on the number of size of assets you can upload into Dash. However, sometimes a web browser won't be best to support uploading a large amount of content into Dash at once. By this, we mean:

  • A large quantity of multiple assets

  • A smaller quantity of actual assets, but each asset has a large file size

In both cases, this can result in an overall large amount of data to be uploaded into Dash. Therefore, as a general rule of thumb, we recommend anything that equates to over 5GB in one upload to be uploaded via Google Drive, Dropbox, or other cloud storage solutions, all of which are outlined in this article.

Specific usage limits

There are some specific limits on usage in Dash, which 99% of users will never encounter but exist as a failsafe. If you should reach one of these limits, you'll be prompted to send us a message and we can usually increase a limit once we've had a chat and understood your need for this.
