Using filters (often in combination with each other) is a powerful way to help you get to the right assets quickly.
Sometimes though, once you've applied certain filters, you may decide that you'd like to change things up or even inverse your search to better refine results.
Using the "remove" and "negate" buttons
Let's take a look at an example. In this scenario we've filtered to all assets that are in the Plant Category "Pet Friendly" and "Small Plants".
If you click on the filter name, e.g. where it says "Pet Friendly" you'll notice two options:
❌ Remove
This will remove that filter option from the search. So, if you decided you only wanted to search for Small Plants, and didn't care about whether they were pet friendly or not anymore, you can hit "Remove" here. We're now searching for any assets containing "small plants", regardless of if they're pet friendly or not.
🚫 Negate
This adds a "NOT" in front of that option. So, suppose you wanted to find all assets that contained small plants and were NOT Pet Friendly (perhaps you're looking to post something informative about plants that are dangerous to pets?), you'd instead click "Negate". This changes our search to Small plants AND (NOT Pet Friendly)
To summarise, then, how each action changes our search:
❌ Remove:
"Small plants" AND "pet friendly" ➡️ "Small plants"
🚫 Negate:
"Small plants" AND "pet friendly" ➡️ "Small plants" AND (NOT "Pet friendly")
