Filters are a powerful tool for finding the exact assets that you need.
This article explains how Dash's search works when you apply multiple filters, so you can master Dash's multi-filtering capabilities to get the results that you're really looking for 👇🏻
Using search terms and filters together
You can use filters on their own or combine them with a search term to narrow down your results.
From the search results page:
Changing or replacing your search term keeps your applied filters
Clearing your search term using the × in the search bar or on the search term chip keeps your filters and shows all assets matching them
Adding, changing, removing or clearing filters leaves your search term unchanged
If there are no matching assets, your search term and filters stay in place. Try changing your search term or adjusting your filters to find what you need.
Starting a search from another view, such as Browse, starts a new search without carrying over filters from your current view.
Match all or any of given filters
When you choose multiple filtering options within the same filter, Dash will give you the option to either search against all selected options, or any of the selected options:
In this example, selecting multiple options from a "Plant Category" checklist field:
Selecting "any" would search for assets that contain either the Hanging & Trailing OR the Tall plants option.
Whereas selecting "all" would bring back assets that contain both the Hanging & Trailing AND Tall Plants option.
Filtering by a list of tags
Sometimes it can be useful and quicker to search or filter a selection of assets by a list of tags. For example, a very common use-case is to search assets by their "SKUs".
This option is available for the Tags field type. You can copy-paste the list of tags from an spreadsheet, and paste it in the field's filtering box. In the video below we show you how:
ℹ️ Note: when typing the list into the filtering box, or copy-pasting from a note or a word document, make sure that the tags are separated by commas ( , ).
Multiple filters from a dropdown list
When selecting multiple options within a Dropdown list, Dash will automatically search for assets that contain "any" of the selected option.
This is because it's not currently possible to assign multiple dropdown options to an asset, so searching for an asset that contains more than one dropdown option (from within the same dropdown field) would pull in zero results.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I search by upload date?
It is not possible to perform a search for an asset's upload date. However, you can instead apply a filter on the "Date added" field. Use the "Custom" option from the dropdown to filter by a specific date/date range.
