How to migrate your data from SharePoint

Learn how to do a data migration into Dash from SharePoint

If your existing data is stored in SharePoint, we can migrate it over to Dash for you.

How it works

We use a dedicated migration tool to handle the data transfer, so currently it isn't something you can set up or configure yourself within Dash. So just contact us via the in-app chat and we'll help get you started.

Configuring the SharePoint migration

Pre-requisities

  1. Decide which folders you would like to migrate from SharePoint to Dash

    1. Our preference is for the chosen folders all to be located under a single parent folder. You could either copy or move files to a new import location, which will make importing them into Dash a bit simpler. If this isn't possible though don't worry.

  2. You'll need a SharePoint user configured with full read and write access to the folders you would like to migrate.

    1. This can be your existing user account, or you can create a new account just for the migration - it is up to you.

πŸ’‘ You might also want to copy all the assets you want to migrate into a single "Migration" folder, as this can make the migration a bit simpler.

Adding your SharePoint account

Once you have a user created, follow these steps:

  1. Let us know you're ready to configure the migration via the in-app chat

  2. We'll send you an invite to our migration tool (CloudHQ)

  3. Follow the instructions in the invitation email to log in

  4. Navigate to the "Cloud Accounts" tab

  5. In the section "Add Other Personal and Business Cloud Accounts" click on the "Office 365 SharePoint" logo

  6. Follow the steps and sign into your SharePoint account to create a connection to SharePoint. This provides us access to the folders in your SharePoint account.

  7. Let us know via the existing in-app chat conversation that you have completed the above steps and confirm which folders you would like migrated.

  8. We will then configure and run the data migration

Once the migration is complete

Once we have completed the migration, we will let you know so you can review the imported assets in Dash.

Once you're happy, we will remove the SharePoint connection from CloudHQ.
